Protecting Social Security Numbers
Social Security Number training is required annually for all UF personnel who use SSNs in their work or research.
The University of Florida actively limits and protects the personal identification information that it collects. Florida Law also requires that Social Security Numbers (SSNs) only be used in University systems, business forms, and processes, if the use is required by other laws, or, if not required, only with special permission from University officials.
UF Employees and Volunteers:
Follow these instructions to complete Social Security Number training through MyUFL if you are a UF employee or volunteer with POI status.
Log in to myUFL,
go to My Self Service, then Training and Development to enroll in the course. Search for the course by number (PRV804), then follow the online instructions to enroll in the course and complete it.
If you do not see the Training and Development tab/link, then you do not have an active job status.
Volunteers, including students without an active job status, may be given a "Person of Interest" (POI) role to access training modules in MyUFL. Click here for printed instructions. Or visit the Human Resources webpage for more information.
Non-employees:
Follow these instructions for the Privacy Office Training Module. This moduled should only be used by students, volunteers, and visitors who do not have an active job or other status in UF's PeopleSoft system.
Read these instructions first, then click on the BEGIN button below. Press the NEXT (or BACK) button at the top of each frame to proceed from slide to slide. This training takes about 20 minutes and must be completed in one sitting. If you close the window before reaching the end, you will need to begin again. There are questions at the end. A 70% score is needed for successful completion and to print a certificate. Do not close the window until the Certificate of Completion appears, after the registration page.
Register At the End: Use either your UF ID# or a pseudo-number to register your completion. If you have a UF ID#, please use it, and please enter it correctly. If you do NOT have a UFID, use ####-0000, where the first 4 digits are a set of numbers that means something to you, such as part of a phone#, address, or zip code. Please do not use all 0's!!! If you can't remember your UF ID#, go to: What's My UFID?
Browsers and Pop-Up Blockers: The training is best accessed through Internet Explorer 6 or higher (IE). It will also work with other common browsers and Mac systems. If you have difficulties, please let us know.
The training module appears as a pop-up window. If you click below on Begin SSN Training and get sent back to this page, you may have a "Pop-Up Blocker" installed. Disable the blocker or use a different computer that allows pop-ups from this page. Speak to your computer support person, if necessary, for help.
If you are an employee, DO NOT click the button below! It will not count. See the instructions for employees above.
Thank you for your participation. If you have any questions, please read all the instructions first. Then, if you don't find the answer you need, contact Everall Peele, Privacy Training Coordinator(epeele@ufl.edu). If you have technical questions about training accessed through MyUFL, please call Jamie Cooke in HR Training - 273-1762.
Certificates for Privacy Office training may be printed using Certificate Lookup. Certificates for training through MyUFL are only available at the end of the training module. After that, please print your Training Summary or Historical Profile page as proof of completion.
