Level 1: HIPAA for Researchers
Two-In-One Training!!

Research and Information Privacy

This module includes UF’s HIPAA & Privacy General Awareness Training.

If you are involved in human subject research, you only need to complete this one training module and sign the UF Confidentiality Statement once every 12 months to be in compliance with Privacy Office requirements.
No other training is required by the Privacy Office for individuals conducting human subject research.

Instructions

Please read this entire page first before calling the Privacy Office.

Read the information on each slide. Press the NEXT (or BACK) button at the top of each frame to proceed from slide to slide.
There are 20 questions to answer at the end. If you select the correct answers the slides will automatically proceed to the next question. If you select an incorrect answer you will be informed that it was incorrect, but will not be given another opportunity to answer the question.
A 70% score is needed for successful completion of the review test and printing of a certificate. Only passing scores will be saved electronically for tracking.

This training takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and must be finished in one sitting. If you close the window before reaching the end, you will need to begin again. Please do not close the window until you see the Certificate of Completion, which appears at the end, after the registration page.

Register At the End
Use either your UF ID# or a pseudo-number to register your completion.
If you have not been assigned a UFID, you should use ####-0000, where the first 4 digits are a set of numbers that means something to you, such as part of a phone #, zip code, or Social Security #. Please do not use all 0's!!!
If you have a UF ID#, please use it, and please enter it correctly.
If you have a UF ID# but can't remember it, go to: What's My UFID?

Browsers and Pop-Up Blockers
The training is best accessed through Internet Explorer, but will also work with other common browsers. It can work with MacIntosh systems, but only with certain browsers common to Mac's. If you have difficulties, please let us know.
The training module appears as a pop-up box. If you click below on Begin Research and Privacy and get sent back to this page, you may have a "Pop-Up Blocker" installed. Disable the blocker or use a different computer that allows pop-ups from this page. Speak to your computer support person, if necessary, for help.

Thank you for your participation. If you have any questions, please read this entire page first. Then, if you don't find the answer you need, contact Everall Peele, HIPAA Training Coordinator (epeele@ufl.edu).
