Level 1: HIPAA & Privacy - General Awareness

If you are not sure which HIPAA/Privacy Training to complete, click here.
If you are involved in human subject research, complete Research & Information Privacy instead of this module. You are not required to complete both.
UF Employees and Volunteers (with POI status):
Follow these instructions to complete HIPAA & Privacy - General Awareness training through MyUFL if you are a UF healthcare employee or a volunteer with active status in PeopleSoft.
Step 1. Open these detailed enrollment instructions and keep them open while you enroll in the training course.
Step 2. Log in to myUFL, go
to My Self Service, then Training and Development to enroll in the course (see the instructions in Step 1 above). Search for the course by name (HIPAA) or by number (PRV800).
NOTE: If you do not see the "Enroll in Training" tab/link, then you do not have an active job status. If you are a new employee, keep checking - the link will appear when your job is fully activated.
Volunteers, including students may be given a "Person of Interest" (POI) role to access the training in MyUFL, if desired; however, volunteers and students may still complete the training through the Privacy Office website below. Click here for printed instructions or visit the Human Resources webpage for more information.
Follow these instructions to complete HIPAA - General Awareness using the Privacy Office training module. This version of the training may be used by UF students, volunteers, visitors, and other individuals who are not involved in human subject research and do not have an active status in PeopleSoft. (This includes Shands lease-back employees working for UFP.)
Read these instructions first, then click on the BEGIN button below. This training module takes 30 - 45 minutes and must be completed in one sitting. If you close the frame window before reaching the end, you will need to begin again. Press the NEXT (or BACK) button at the top of each frame to proceed from slide to slide.
There are 20 questions at the end. A 70% score is needed for successful completion and to print a certificate. Do not close the window until the Certificate of Completion appears, after the registration page.
Register At the End: Use either your UF ID#
or a pseudo-number to register your completion. If you have a UF ID#, please use it, and please
enter it correctly.
If you do NOT have a UFID, use ####-0000, where the first 4 digits are a set of numbers that means something to you, such as part of a phone#, address, or zip code. Please do not use all 0's!!! If you can't remember your UF ID#, go to: What's My UFID?
Browsers and Pop-Up Blockers: The training is best accessed through Internet Explorer 6 or higher (IE). It will also work with other common browsers and MacIntosh systems. If you have difficulties, please let us know.
The Privacy Office training module appears as a pop-up window. If you click below on Begin HIPAA & Privacy and get sent back to this page, you may have a "Pop-Up Blocker" installed. Disable the blocker or use a different computer that allows pop-ups from this page. Speak to your computer support person, if necessary, for help.
Don't forget to sign your Confidentiality Statement when you finish the training! Click on the link in the menu to your left to access the instructions and form.
