Level 3 : Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) Training
The Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) is a written statement mandated by federal law to inform patients about their personal health information: how it may be used and disclosed and how they may gain access to it. Learn how to use the NPP and what your responsibilities are.
Instructions: Please read before calling the Privacy Office!
Read the information on each slide and answer the questions as they appear. Press the NEXT button to proceed from slide to slide.
If you select the correct answer for a question, you will automatically proceed to the next question or slide. If you select an incorrect answer you will be informed that it was incorrect, but you will not be given another opportunity to answer the question.
A 70% score is needed to successfully complete the test and print a certificate. Only passing scores will be saved electronically for tracking.
The NPP training module takes approximately 20 minutes and must be completed
in one sitting. Please do not close the training window until you see the Certificate of Completion, which appears at the end of the training.
Registration at the end: Use your UF ID# or a pseudo-number to
register your completion of the training. The registration area
comes at the end of the tutorial.
If you do NOT have a UF ID#, use ####-0000. (Replace
the first 4 digits with some other set of numbers, such as part of a phone
#,address, or Social Security # for better identification.)
If you have a UF ID# but can't remember it, please go to: http://www.it.ufl.edu/ufid/wmufid.html.
It is very important to use your UFID # if you have one, and to enter
your number accurately.
Certificates: If you complete the NPP training and the registration and then do not see your Certificate, or receive an error message, close the test window and click on “Certificate Lookup" in the menu. Follow the instructions there to print a certificate.
Browsers: The module is designed to work best with Internet Explorer 6 and up. It will also work with Netscape, Mozilla, and Firefox, but often has problems, and sometimes will not work at all. If you have difficulty, try a different computer with a different browser.
Pop-Up Blockers: The test appears as a pop-up box, so if you click below on Begin Training and get sent back to this page, you may have a "Pop-Up Stopper" installed. You will need to disable the application to access the test. Speak to your computer support person for instructions.
Thank you for your participation, and please contact Everall Peele, HIPAA Training Coordinator (after you have read all the instructions above!), if you have any questions.
